CREDIT-SCORE ROUTER

Loan Options by Credit Score

A credit score can change the price and number of available offers, but it is not a universal approval switch. Different lenders use different models and may also review income, debt, recent credit events and other information.

Rate / Payment Sensitivity

Remaining monthly cushion: $600Budget check only. A lender determines actual eligibility and payment terms.
  • Use the same amount and term.
  • Test several APR scenarios to see how cost changes.
  • Then replace the scenario with the lender's actual APR/fees before deciding.
  • Do not treat the sensitivity tool as a quote or approval estimate.

Decision FAQ

Questions to resolve before you submit a request

What credit score do I need for a personal loan?

There is no universal minimum. Each lender has its own criteria and may consider factors beyond score.

Is 500 too low for a loan?

A 500 score can make borrowing more difficult and expensive, but some lenders consider applicants in that range.

Is no credit worse than bad credit?

They are different. No credit means too little history to score; bad credit reflects negative history.

Will checking options lower my score?

A participating lender may use a soft or hard inquiry depending on the stage and policy.

Does a better score always guarantee a lower rate?

No. Income, debt, amount, term, lender pricing and state rules also affect an offer.
