What this page helps you decide
ITIN vs. SSN Readiness
Partner Availability Gate
Document Pack to Prepare
- Valid ITIN record and lender-accepted identity document.
- Proof of U.S. address or residence if the lender requires it.
- Documented income and bank history.
- Tax records or other lender-requested financial documents.
- Any credit-file information associated with the accepted identifier.
No U.S. Credit History? Separate the problem
- Having an ITIN and having a U.S. credit file are different questions.
- A thin/no-credit file may limit options even if the lender accepts ITIN.
- Use /loans-with-no-credit-history/ when the main issue is lack of credit history rather than the identifier itself.

Decision FAQ
Questions to resolve before you submit a request
Does CTCLoans accept ITIN instead of SSN?
This page is conditional. CTCLoans should only say yes after the live partner network confirms that ITIN requests can be routed in the selected state.
Does an ITIN prove immigration status?
No. The IRS states that an ITIN is for federal tax processing and does not provide immigration status or work authorization.
Can an ITIN holder have a U.S. credit file?
Potentially, depending on how creditors and bureaus report data, but the identifier and credit-history questions are separate.
What if the CTC network does not support ITIN?
The page should show alternative community/credit-union resources rather than collecting a misleading request.
